gamer sighting

i was having lunch today at a really nice hotel. we noticed that there was a unusually large number of 'rock starish teenie boppers' all over the place. turns out that the world series of video games was having its last day at the convention center we are loading into tomorrow. one of the guys i was having lunch with suddenly raced off when he spotted an old friend. when he came back, he told us that this friend of his had gotten into gaming competitions a few years ago and had since won numerous international competitions. he said this guy won about half a million dollars a year between competitions and companies knocking at his door. even if my friend was exaggerating, the prize purse for the competition at this hotel is $225,000. haven't i seen a movie from the early 90's about this. i think it still plays sometimes on tnt late night.

i have questioned my career path choice today. i was pretty awesome at super mario bros (first generation with the original nintendo). i guess i'll never know.
